This past week, we had the pleasure of meeting and hiking with the inspiring personality behind Instagram content creator @thetreehouseonwheels and her wonderful dog Tango the Aussidoodle. On a joint hike to Valhalla Lake on the Pacific Crest Trail in the Washington State Cascades off of HWY 2, we were thrilled to develop a partnership with @thetreehouseonwheels who has graciously agreed to share insights into her (and her dog Tango) incredible adventures and experiences as she travels by van across the US and hikes, camps, backpacks, paddleboards, swims, some of the most amazing and beautiful locations. Through @thetreehouseonwheels’s upcoming blog posts, we at The Mountain Exp know that she and tango will inspire everyone in our community to simply go for it and get outdoors for the health of it!!!
We are thrilled with this partnership and are very excited for our community to get this view into an incredibly adventurous, driven and inspiring human being living her best life in the many beautiful locations not only in the US but around the world.
Enjoy!!!
By YOURSELF?!?
When Mountain Exp asked me to blog for them, it was an easy “Yes!” After all, we all love nature and think everyone should get outside, whether it’s to hike, paddleboard, backpack, or run from a bear. So, here I am, hoping to inspire all of you, especially solo women, to embrace the wild.
Now, let’s be real. I don’t promote solo adventures, mainly because I’ve seen too many horror movies. But sometimes, it’s a choice between going solo or staying home with a bag of chips and FOMO. So, naturally, I’m traveling solo in a van called, you guessed, Van Vida, and my mini Aussiedoodle, Tango. He’s more teddy bear than guard dog, but he’s good company, unless you’re trying to break into the treats jar.
“By YOURSELF?!?!” is a question I get asked almost as often as “Where are you from?” (Don’t worry, I’ll save that story for another post. Spoiler: it’s a place with more wine than people.)
Yes, I’m by myself, but let’s clear this up, I’m not a loner or a hermit. I’m super social, an extrovert to the core, and I’ve played team sports my whole life. I’d much rather adventure out with friends, but sometimes that’s not in the cards. And when that happens, I’m not going to sit around dreaming about the perfect trip. I’m going to pack up, hit the road, and make it happen.
And guess what? You can too! With a bit of planning and a healthy dose of common sense, solo adventure isn’t as scary as it sounds. In fact, it can be downright exhilarating. If nothing else, it’s a fantastic way to find out just how badass you really are, or at the very least, how well you can talk yourself out of a minor panic attack in the middle of the woods.
Don’t go anywhere … up next: The ultimate Norway road trip!
We are thrilled to have Tango and @thetreehouseonwheels on board and sharing their many wonderful adventures with us. We know that these two are going to inspire everyone to take the leap and get outside and enjoy the many health and life benefits that come along with it.
