Sujit and The Peak Baggers team

Sujit is a very dear and close friend to all of us at The Mountain Exp. Sujit is a member of a local mountaineering group named “The Peak Baggers” in the Seattle area that has some ambitious goals for the 2024 hiking and mountaineering season. Sujit is an engineering leader at a major tech company and has become very serious about hiking and mountaineering as a method to help reduce stress and to gain the physical, mental and spiritual health benefits getting outdoors provides. Since January Sujit has hiked a local favorite trail called the “Mailbox Peak Trail Loop” 6 times and will continue to hike this loop weekly until July 4th which is the weekend that he and his mountaineering team will be summiting Mount Rainier in Washington State.

The Mailbox Peak Trail Loop is no easy walk in the park. It has a “Hard” rating on AllTrails.com with 4.7 stars with at the time of this post 6,860 reviews. It is 7.7 miles in length, with an elevation gain of 4,009 ft located near the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Natural Resources Conservation Area.

Sujit and the mountaineering team’s upcoming schedule:

Mailbox Peak Trail Loop – Weekly until July 4th

Mount Saint Helens Summit – May 11th

Mount Shasta Summit – Memorial Day May 27th

Mount Rainier Summit – July 4th

After Rainier, several of these same folks will be riding in the Seattle to Portland (STP) Bike Ride on July 13-14.

Beyond that the training will continue for the Peak Baggers with some members also targeting summiting Kilimanjaro in December 2024. We will get more information on the specific route and service they use as time draws nearer.

We will be following Sujit and other individual members from the Peak Baggers as they hit each milestone, gathering personal insights into what has inspired them to reach for these heights, how long they have been into hiking or mountaineering, the challenges they have faced, gear that worked well and gear that didn’t work so well, risks, mitigations, and overall learnings and insights from their experiences throughout the remainder of the year.

We are very pleased to partner with the Peak Baggers and are looking forward to help outfit the crew on their multiple journeys to the summit of these wonderful majestic mountains as well as for all of their outdoor activity needs.
